(September, 17,
1998) - Rolling Stones Hit It Off In Greece
Sixty thousand Greeks gave the Rolling
Stones a warm reception on Wednesday, when the band
came in for the finalleg of their Bridges
To Babylon tour.
The reception was a different one from the band's last
performance in Greece 31 years ago. During that show,
singer Mick Jagger was dragged
off the stage when tried to throw red carnations to the
audience. The ultra right wing military junta that
controlled the country thought the color of the flowers
was meant as a pro-Communist gesture.

(September, 27,
1998) - MTV makes debut on Russian television
MTV has made its television debut in Moscow and St.
Petersburg with a mixture of Western rock, pop and homegrown
Russian hits.
It was not the first time Russians could watch MTV,
but Friday's debut marked the first time they have had
it for free in their own language.
MTV Russia will be on the air 21 hours a day, with
about 70 programs featuring some 7,000 music videos, show
business and sports news. It will also air one hour of
nonstop Russian music in prime time.
Also scheduled for MTV Russia will be programs such as
"Beavis and Butt-head," but with some changes. Station officials
say it will be voiced over for local viewers and vodka-induced
hangovers will replace their beer equivalent.
